shadow figure sightings — Submitted by: Natalie R., Spokane, Washington
This happened about three years ago to a close friend of mine, Lisa, who lives in a quiet suburb outside of Seattle. One evening, she was walking home after working late at her office downtown. It was already dark, and the streets were mostly empty except for a few passing cars. As she walked, she felt like someone was watching her, but whenever she glanced back, there was no one there.
The streetlights flickered on and off intermittently, casting long shadows across the pavement. She quickened her pace but still had this unnerving sensation that something was following her. Then, in her peripheral vision, she caught sight of a tall, dark figure standing by a tree about fifty feet behind her. When she stopped to look directly, it vanished like a puff of smoke.
Lisa decided not to take any chances and called her husband to come pick her up, explaining she felt uneasy. As she waited, she noticed the shadow figure again, this time closer — it didn’t have any distinct features, just an inky black silhouette with no face or shape, almost like a shadow come to life.
When her husband finally arrived, she jumped in the car and locked the doors. The figure was standing right on the sidewalk, motionless, watching them drive away. That night, Lisa couldn’t sleep and kept feeling like the presence had followed her home. Over the next few days, strange things started happening — lights flickering, cold spots in her bedroom, and the sound of footsteps when no one else was home.
She even caught a glimpse of the shadow figure in the corner of her eye once, disappearing whenever she turned toward it. Lisa later learned that the area near the tree was the site of several mysterious disappearances decades ago, with reports of a dark figure seen lurking around. To this day, she won’t walk alone after dark, always fearing that shadow might still be following her.
