The Midnight Road: A Terrifying Encounter in Wisconsin sent by Ben

In October 2018, Ben, a college senior from Wisconsin, decided to take a late-night drive to clear his head after a stressful week of exams. The crisp autumn air and quiet roads made for the perfect escape. He’d often taken this route before—an empty stretch leading out of town, bordered by dense woods. But that night was different.

As Ben drove, his headlights caught sight of something in the distance. A figure was standing in the middle of the road, dressed in what looked like a tattered gray hoodie and jeans. Slowing down, Ben honked his horn, expecting the person to move. They didn’t.

When Ben came to a stop, he rolled down his window cautiously. “Hey! You okay?” he called out.

The figure turned slowly to face him, but their face was obscured by the hoodie. What he could see sent chills down his spine—it looked as though the skin on their hands and neck was pale and cracked, almost…rotted. Before Ben could react, the figure raised their arm and pointed toward the woods.

“Nope,” Ben muttered to himself, rolling up his window quickly and putting the car in reverse. But as he looked into his rearview mirror, he saw that the figure was now standing behind his car. It was impossible—they hadn’t moved fast enough to get there.

Heart pounding, Ben floored it, swerving around the figure and speeding down the road. He didn’t stop until he reached a gas station miles away. Shaking, he told the clerk what had happened. The man behind the counter stared at him for a moment before saying, “You’re lucky you didn’t stop again. People who see her don’t usually make it out of those woods.”

Ben never drove that route at night again.
