Visitor at the Window Chicago Haunting

The Visitor at the Window: A True Chicago Haunting

The Visitor at the Window: A True Chicago Haunting sent by Amy from Chicago.

It was a warm July evening in 2010 when Amy, a nurse from Chicago, returned home after a long shift. Her apartment was on the fifth floor of an older building in a quiet neighborhood—nothing fancy, but it was home. Exhausted, she kicked off her shoes, reheated some leftover pasta, and collapsed onto the couch. She had no idea the night was about to take a horrifying turn.

Around midnight, Amy woke up to the sound of knocking. It wasn’t coming from the door—it was coming from her window. Confused, she sat up, trying to make sense of it. Her window faced the alley behind the building, five stories up. There was no fire escape, no balcony—nothing anyone could stand on. She brushed it off as her imagination.

But the knocking grew louder.

Gathering her courage, Amy walked to the window. She couldn’t see anything in the dark alley below, but as she leaned closer, she saw it—a face pressed against the glass. Her heart stopped. It wasn’t human. The features were stretched and distorted, the eyes too large, the mouth twisted in a grotesque grin.

Amy stumbled back, her breath quickening. The thing outside the window knocked again, its grin widening. Panicked, she grabbed her phone and dialed 911. As she explained the situation, the knocking stopped. When she looked back, the window was empty.

The police arrived and searched the area but found nothing unusual. They chalked it up to her being overtired, but Amy knew what she saw. She moved out a week later, leaving behind the place she once called home.

Neighbors claimed they sometimes heard strange knocks late at night, but no one ever dared to look.
